Lesson Ideas
Number Hunt
Call out a number and ask children to find it on the hundred square. Encourage them to explain how they located it using rows, columns, tens and ones.
Skip Counting
Highlight every 2nd, 5th or 10th number and ask children to describe the pattern. Extend this by exploring multiples such as 3s, 4s, 6s or 9s.
Odd and Even Numbers
Use two colours to highlight odd and even numbers. Ask children what they notice about the pattern in the columns and how they can predict whether a number is odd or even.
